ADVENTURE INFO
The Romanian Carpathian mountains are a biking heaven on Earth, boasting an unlimited network of amazing single tracks. On this trip we will take you to the area of Transylvania and some of the best locations for all mountain and enduro riding. For the uplifts we will be mostly employing a van and where possible – chair lifts, nevertheless, on some occasions we will pedal to reach the trail heads. The routes are very diverse – from fast forest trails, well built bike park lines with man made elements, to hardcore high alpine single tracks.
Apart from the epic rides accompanied by stunning mountain views of the Carpathian range, we will nourish our senses with the rich cultural heritage of the region, as well as the authentic local cuisine, craft beverages and of course the night live!
Arrival at Bucharest airport and transfer to Sinaia area for accommodation. Set up the bikes and trip briefing.
Today we will explore the trails of Azuga and Sinaia bike parks. We will start with 2 lift rides in Azuga area and ride 2 of the trails there with an option of climbing a panoramic peak and descend all the way down to the village. In the afternoon we will ride the cool trails in Sinaia bike park – Fairy trail and Happy bear trail using the van for the uplifts.
After a good warm up yestarday we start with the longest and most epic day – crossing Bucegi Mountains. To save big part of the climb we will use the local gondola to take us up on a scenic ride through Busteni rocks to elevation of 2000m. From there we will start pedalling to the top of the mountain Omu peak (2505m). After rest we commence on a long and rolling alpine track traversing the mountain and finish with a big and fast descend down to Bran town, famous for the Bran (Dracula’s) castle. Transfer to Brasov town, where we will spend the next 3 nights. Accommodation close to the city center.
Today we will do very little pedalling and ride the single tracks above Brasov town using the van and local lift for the uphills. The trails here are versitile and some of them include steep sections, small jumps, drops and berms. One of the trails we will do is 15 km long with vertical drop of 1100m. In the afternoon we will have some time for a walk in the old town of Brasov and enjoy dinner there. Option for visit of a spa place or the local aqua park.
Today we will explore 2 trails in Piatra Crailui mountains. We will start with a long and gradual climb in the deep Zarnesti gorge all the way up to a picturesque meadow with a mountain hut where we will stop for lunch and rest. The first descend is on a flowy forest trail that will take us back to the main gravel road. From there we will climb again to the hut and ride a versitile and more technical trail down to the place where we started in the morning. Transfer back to Brasov.
Depending on weather and trail conditions today we will ride the trails of Cuicas mountain or Harghita trails center. Both areas are famous for local enduro races and the trails are always fun to ride.
Last night in Brasov.
Today we will drive to Campulung area and ride Ciocanu Enduro trails. We will pedal to reach the head trails and enjoy riding well built and flowy tracks featuring nice berms, jumps and other elements. Those trails are also used in a local enduro race so the fun is guaranteed. In the fternoon we will travel to Bucharest for accommodation. We will enjoy a nice meal followed by a night stroll in the city. Night life in Bucharest during summer is also one very interesting and adventurous social experience!
